In order to create a film, one person can not do it alone. They will need a crew of filmmakers, scriptwriters, actors and others. With this, directors can produce proper screenplay.
Each of these crew members have a purpose on set. Their entire goal is to create meaning in the form of cinema. They achieve this by working together as a whole to ultimately generate a film that conveys emotions, stereotypes, counter stereotypes, societal issues, etc.
Producer- Provides the funding for the project
Example: Steven Spielsburg - produced BFG, Ready Player One, Jurassic Park, E.T., etc.
Director- Explains and executes the vision (Plot/story) of the film
Example: Brad Bird - directed The Incredibles (1 and 2)
Cinematographer- Records the scenes and shots
Example: Roger Deakins - Filmed Sicario (2015), Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
Sound Mixer- The person in charge of the audio/sound in a scene
Example: Ben Burtt - Designed the sound of a lightsaber for starwars
Now that I understand the roles of these crew members, I can hire some of my own. For the final cut project, I will be the producer and the director. I may ask my friends to be my cinematographers for the scenes that I will be participating in. That way, I can get angles that would not be possible if I were the one recording. I may also hire another friend to be my sound mixer so that I can enhance the sounds made in scenes.
