Foreshadowing in my opening scene will be present in the form of my protagonist running from the antagonist. It teases and introduces the main character's issue as she will appear again after the blackout. By using this method, my plot structure is enhanced.
Looking further into my movie, this tease can impact the twists on the rest of the film. Since Charlotte will appear again even though she hit her head in the beginning, my viewers will understand that she still has a journey to complete.
On top of this, foreshadowing creates complexity. By allowing my audience to piece together the mystery, they will have a larger surprise when the foreboding truth is unveiled. Piecing together the clues helps keep them engaged and excited to see what might happen later.
Foreshadowing makes room for symbolism within my final cut. This means certain items or characters that are silently revealed will have a greater impact later on. An example of this can be forest that the girl appears in. The forest symbolizes a place of supernatural and unknown beings. As my movie revolves around her trying to escape the doppleganger, the setting will take place in the forest.
