Olivia: Quick! Kryscelle, tell me how your products use or challenge Conventions and how they represent social groups or issues!

Kryscelle: I challenged regular or typical horror conventions like a spooky, dark forest at night by filming closer to sunset. I wanted a little sunlight to appear in the beginning of my film so that it would progressively get darker.

Olivia: Thats not enough! Give me more examples!!

Kryscelle: Well, instead of having the alternate harm Charlotte with a physical weapon, it harmed her by screaming at her. I decided to do this to lean more into that psychological thrill effect. It also relates to my mandela catalogue theme. Moreover, I used an isolated location convention, where Charlotte was coincidentally lured into the forest after losing Mochi. This created a more suspenseful and anticipative setting.

Olivia: Time is running out. How does your product represent Social groups or issues?!

Kryscelle: Chill out! Im getting to it! One social group my film represents is young adults or adolescents. This is because many people in this age range struggle to identify who they really are inside. Some may also create an alternative personality over their own due to high standards or peer pressure that they feel they must abide to. It also represents how most young adults go through personal growth with themselves around this time.

Olivia: What about the sound?!

Kryscelle: What do you mean the sound?

Olivia: What sound did you use to create meaning?!

Kryscelle: Ооookay... I implemented extracted audio from crunching leaves into shots like this, and this

to progress the story. Here, suspense is generated from the silence after, allowing my audience to engage with my film. l also imported some quick stings, similar to ones like in the movie long legs where you can see here. The purpose of these stings is to make my viewers Jump, or, build up to a moment of suspense.

6 people: C'mon Slowpoke! time is almost up!!

Kryscelle: Alright Alright! I utilized ambient sound from the forest while filming to produce a sense of realism. Diegetic sound was also used to enhance thejingle of Mochis leash as it unclipped. By doing this, I hoped to make it clear that the leash fell off after. I purposely left in the wind and crunching sounds during this scene to present the setting and where Charlotte was. Not only that, but it foreshadows the bridge that she trips on later!

8 people: You need to talk about distribution!!

Kryscelle: Illets go to a quieter place... Thats better! If my final cut WERE a real film and I had to distribute it across multiple platforms, what better way than using social media? Since my targeted audience is around the mid teens to mid twenties range (The range that uses social media the most), my film would sell out in seconds! Im talking advertising trailers on instagram, tiktok, Youtube , spotify you name it. We should get back to school now...

olivia - KRYSCELLE!!

Kryscelle: Not again!!

olivia: I kight Just have to report you! about representation!!!

Kryscelle:  Woah woah woah! I was about to! I wanted my film to have tons of representation!

Olivia: Like what?

Kryscelle:  For example, Charlotte was meant to represent innocence, as she had originally been wearing a gold necklace. However, when the doppleganger was seen picking it up at the end of my opening Scene, a bit of red was seen. Fun fact, this was not intentional.  It actually happened on accident and originally I wanted to not get the red part in the shot.

Olivia: Then why did you keep it?

Kryscelle: I realized that I could use this to my advantage. It was also one of my favorite accomplishments! The red shown only during the scene with the alternate represents its unknown and horrific intentions. All of that can be shown with just the color, since red can represent many things such as pression love an power. But in this case, it represented blood and danger!

3 People: Bye!
